Mas Cerveza, Por Favor!

A thoughtful chronicle of my study-abroad experience at the UDLA in Mexico...and by that I mean a collection of wild stories about crazy things I will do in Mexico and some other random, non-important things.

The Long Awaited...

Thursday - Sunday recap....only one week late!

Soo, Thursday at like 430, me Liz and Adam (more commonly referred to in our Marketing Research class as 'Team Gringo") were working on our final project for Marketing, when we decided that we had had enough of working and we're going to go to Bambukos to get hamburgers and beer. Well one beer turned into 6 liters of beer and a rowdy game of Asshole. Then we all drunkenly stumble home, get ourselves all prettied up, and head to this club Mandragora, where (this part is all a blurr sorry) somehow we get backstage/in the vip section and there's this famous Mexican band called Genitallica playing and this guy kept taking "sexy pictures" of Liz, and by that I mean prety much just tons of pictures of her almost naked breasts...then some dude hands me a CD, tshirt and hat all with the "Mandragora 1st Aniversary" logo on it...so we did a lot of drinking and dancing and I got this cool blue flashing "ice cube" thing, and then after the club we got Tacos Tigre and then I went home, slept a bit and got up for class at 11 on Friday, feelin' like a champ.

Friday night Liz and I went on one of our usual "dates" to the mall for dinner and a movie. Saw this awesome Mexican movie with the sexiest man EVER....its called 7dias ( 7 days ) and yeah...good stuff. So then we just went to our respective homes afterwards and went to bed because on....

Saturday morning at 930 I had to meet with my group, and we had a 4 hour long mock negotiation (over importing Mexican mangos to France, by the way) and I had to be on top of my game. The negotiation went pretty well, and then right afterwards Liz and I went to Wal*Mart to get some snacks and party cups and ping pong balls and beer because starting at 5pm on Saturday, there was a Gringo Fiesta at her house, complete with LOTS and LOTS of Beirut. (Sidenote: my one and only amazing Mexican girlfriend came with her boyfriend, and they kicked some serious ass at the game for never having played before...) So yeah the party was a blast, we all went out to the club Tigre at like 1130, drank some more, danced a bit, and then stumbled back to Liz's house where she made chicken and pasta with homemade sauce for us at like 4am. Got McDonald's breakfast (Mexican style, of course) at like 10 on Sunday morning.

And THAT was my last weekend. THIS weekend should hold some good surprises. Tomorrow morning bright and early (630am) I'm getting on a bus with my entire 'Regulation of International Commerce' class and we're going on a field trip to the Mexico City Airport Customs. WOOO FUCKIN HOOO. And after that we're going to some tourist spot in Mexico City called like Xochimilco or something, its like this big pretty lake place with these gaudy oversized gondola things. I don't know for sure, but I'll let you know. Then our friend Daniel that we met in Acapulco is going to pick us up and we're staying with him for Friday and Saturday nights, and on Sunday good ol' Professor Lane from NU is going to take us with his group of 15 German MBA students to breakfast, a ballet, and lunch. Soooo hopefully it should be a fun weekend!! And if not, well, I'll never go to Mexico City again.

Ok, gotta pack my stuff for the weekend and head to bed early so I can wake up at the ass crack of dawn (well actually the sun doesn't even come up here in the mornings til like after 7, so it will be pitch dark when I wake up at 5. COOL.)
Piece owt kiddies.
Besos,
Sarah
